Junior Development Athletes: Practices start on April 9th, 2012 @ 6:30pm
Track Rascals: Sessions start on May 22nd, 2012 @ 6:30pm

Practice Schedule:

The above practice schedules may be modified from time to time so parents and athletes are encouraged to check for regular updates.

Weekly Weather Forecast:

Practices will rarely be cancelled. The only time we will cancel practice is if the weather is such that it is dangerous (e.g. lightening storms). Check the message board for last minute updates but when in doubt, come to practice.

Please be prepared for the weather. Wear sweats to all practices and bring rain gear, hats, gloves, coats as needed.

Practice Format :

  • The elementary age program is a run-jump-throw program, which engages kids in all aspects of track & field. The athletes will learn fundamental skills in throwing (shot put, discus & javelin), the jumps (triple jump, long jump, & high jump), sprints/hurdles &/or endurance running.
  • There will be two types of practice formats: (1) a 2 discipline format, including running & a jump or throw (ex. Sprints/hurdles + high jump); or (2) a 3 discipline format, including running, jumping & throwing components to the practice.
  • The goal is to develop a well rounded athlete. However, there will be some flexibility & opportunities for more time in areas of interest & specialization as the season progresses, especially for athletes in grades 6-7.
  • Additional practice sessions will be added in May when the better weather becomes more consistent. Additional opportunities will be added on Wednesdays in all the event areas, but especially high jump, hurdles & the throws.
