Golden Ears Athletes
Awarded 2022 BC Athletics Recognition
Lauren Curtis has been a member of Golden Ears Track and Field since 2017. She has been integral in inspiring the younger athletes in GEA throws program providing excellent coaching to our Junior Development athletes throughout our summer season while focusing on her own success in the Throws Cage.

2022 has been an exceptionally successful year for Lauren. Her hard work, personal commitment and contribution to our athletics club has been exceptional.
Lauren has again achieved elite status with BC Athletics this year (2 consecutive years) and is ranked #1 in Canada for Women’s Hammer Throw (3kg) for U18 by Athletics Canada. She was chosen to represent BC on Team BC at Legion Nationals and won Gold at Legion Nationals Track and Field Championships in Sherbrooke Quebec in Aug 2022 firmly cementing her ranking of #1 in Canada. She is also ranked #115 in the World for Women’s Hammer Throw (3kg) for U18 by World Athletics and is Ranked 5th in North America.

Kevin Malo only recently joined our club, and he very quickly made a big impact. Kevin made progress throughout the season by placing in the top 3 athletes in Long Jump at numerous meets however his performance at the BCA Provincial Track Meet held in Kamloops BC in the summer of 2022, earned him a gold medal. Kevin also was picked to represent his region in the BC Summer Games held in 2022 in Prince George.

2022 College Scholarship Award Recipient

Golden Ears Athletics is pleased to announce Larisa Cote as the recipient of the 2022 College Scholarship award. Larisa has been a dedicated member of our small club for numerous years and her positive energy is experience at all levels throughout the club. She travels all the way form Chilliwack to represent our club which demonstrates her commitment to athletics.

Larisa is now in her first year at SFU and is committed to coaching our JDs for the summer 2023. We look forward to seeing her at the tracks and I would encourage you congratulate her on this prestigious achievement.

GEA AWARDED GRANT BY ViaSport Local Sport Relief Fund!

GEA is pleased to announce that we were successful with our application to ViaSport for a grant help fund our activities during these very hard financial times. We will following the direction outlined with this award and using the grant to fund new equipment and coaching. We would like to take this opportunity to thank ViaSport for their continued support and guidance with our club!
The viaSport BC Regional Alliance provides support to local sport organizations across the province through a number of initiatives and capacities. The Regional Alliance strive to help LSOs on an organizational, regional sport collective, and individual coach and athlete level (via local working groups, regional support programs, mentorship programs, local training and equipment support grants, coach training, and athlete support and education.

With COVID restrictions, our main focus has been keeping our GEA family safe while training. As the winter months closed in, it was evident that to continue our winter training program, we were going to need somewhere that was warm and dry while not extending our bubble. It was at this time that Mark and Jenn McClure offered the use of their gym facility to our athletes exclusively. This generous offer was gladly accepted and GEA would like to thank both Mark and Jenn for their support of our club.
