Families who may be experiencing financial difficulties may be hesitant to proceed with registration. To assist families who are experiencing financial challenges we encourage you to check out the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program. Just click on the Jumpstart LOGO and you will be taken to the official website for more details. At GEA we do not want any athlete to miss out.
CROSS COUNTRY
Golden Ears Athletics offers cross country training for Senior JD athletes (Grades 5-7) and High School athletes.

Our Cross Country program is for all athletes in Grade 5 and older.
Training takes place at the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest (UBC Research Forest) at the end of 232 street and also at Cliff Park, at the end of 251st in Maple Ridge.

Typically training is on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings from late August until early November.
We encourage parents to join us, either as a walker or runner.

CROSS COUNTRY RACES

There are a number of club XC meets and the BCA XC Championships at the end of the season. For other XC meets please look at the BC Athletics website.
For those new to Cross Country running, races are typically held on grass and trails with some hill features and consist of multiple loops of short distance. A typical race distance for Junior Development (JDs) is 1.5 to 3 km and for High school age, 3 to 5 km.
