CROSS COUNTRY
Golden Ears Athletics provides cross country training in the fall for high school and junior development athletes (grades 5 to 7).
**Registration will open in August 2022
Cross-Country Training
Coaches - Doug & Phil
This program is open to Grades 5 and older along with parents. We train on the trails at the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest (UBC Research Forest) at the end of 232 street and also at Cliff Park, at the end of 251st in Maple Ridge.
Dates: August 29th, 2022 - Late October, 2022
Training days: Monday and Wednesday 5:00pm-6:30pm
Saturday or Sunday morning run, coach dependent at the time.
Cost: $80 *does not include BC Athletics fee
* As in the past we ask for parent involvement, either as walkers or runners for safety reasons as we are training in the wilderness. If we don't have enough parents, we will cancel the elementary age athletes and only run the high school program.
If you are a new athlete with the club, you will need a BC Athletics membership to compete at sanctioned events.

CROSS COUNTRY RACES
There are a number of club XC meets and the BCA XC Championships are being held on October 22nd, 2022 (location TBC) which will be the end of the season. For other XC meets please look at the BC Athletics website.
For those new to Cross Country running, races are typically held on grass and trails with some hill features and consist of multiple loops of short distance. A typical race distance for Junior Development (JDs) is 1.5 to 3 km and for High school age, 3 to 5 km.
